Sporting Kansas City will be without one of its veteran center backs this Sunday after Matt Besler sustained a knee injury during Friday's training session, according to SKC head coach Peter Vermes .
"He [Besler] tweaked it the other day in practice," Vermes said. "He's definitely not going to play this weekend, and he won't be going to the All-Star Game."
Besler, who has made 12 MLS appearances in 2016 after missing a significant chunk of the season due to US national team call ups, has been struggling to find his way back to SKC's starting XI, starting just one match in the team's last five matches. Sporting is also missing Nuno Cuelho, who has been sidelined with a hamstring injury.
