Congrats to the class of 2016!
The National Soccer Hall of Fame inductees were announced on Thursday, with former women's national team stars Brandi Chastain and Shannon MacMillan joining current MLS Commissioner Don Garber in this year's class.
Chastain, who was selected on the Player Ballot, was a member of the 1999 FIFA Women's World Cup team and scored the decisive penalty shot that lifted the USWNT to the World Cup title. Chastain played 192 matches and scored 30 goals in her time with the USWNT from 1988 to 2004. Chastain was elected in her first year on the ballot.
MacMillan, who appeared in the 1999 World Cup Final with Chastain, was elected via the Veteran Ballot. She scored 60 goals in 176 matches with he USWNT from 1993 to 2005.
Garber was elected on the Builder Ballot. The current Commissioner of Major League Soccer and CEO of Soccer United Marketing has served for 17 years since joining the league in 1999 after starting his career with the NFL.
