Social Timeline: Sounders double down on midweek bouts

S2 / SFC social timeline

Every once in a while, a white whale breaches the surface in Seattle, when both teams clad in Rave Green enter the pitch hungry for victory, willing to do anything to capture the three points swimming beneath the Sea of Green.

“It is thou, thou that madly seekest three points!” – Starbuck, Moby Dick

And three points were both teams' fate on Wednesday, and naturally it was the captain and a rookie who helped both Sounders FC and Sounders FC 2 claim important victories for their respective teams. First, it was new S2 signing Myron Samuel who made his professional debut in the second half, scoring two goals and assisting a third.

Then it was Captain Brad Evans, The Sheriff himself, who left it for late in Champions League group play, scoring a 97th-minute (!!!) penalty to put the senior Rave Green team at the top of the group with two matches left.

You can still feel the vibrations and energy stemming from CenturyLink Field and Starfire Stadium following both wins. A lot went down in those midweek battles, and I am here to wrap it all up with one big mother of a Social Timeline. So fasten down the hatches, because this one got a little bit wild.

Call me Ishmael.

It’s that time of the week. Get off work, because you have some yelling to do.

Oh yeah, did we mention it’s a double-header?

New signings Myron Samuel and Danny Faundez in the 18! Welcome to the club, gentlemen.

The double header just revealed the first of its two noggins.

Looked like a penalty to me, but no dice.

MYRON! ONE-ONE!

Here we go! A chance for S2 to take the lead. Sérgio steps up to take...

The woodwork does its job, and that really stinks.

Myron + Sérgio = 2-1!!!!!!

CAN YOU BELIEVE IT? WHAT A DEBUT!

And it was. The man, the myth, the Myron.

Mooooooving on! Turning all our attention to the big guys in Seattle!

First things first.

Looking sharp fellas!

Well isn’t this special? There's a seat at our next home match waiting for you, Richard!

Look at that! A start for Darwin and Roldan. Seattle, home of the Dawgs.

There is some serious firepower on that bench.

Focus group? More like a support group.

Pitch Black so fresh.

Sometimes I feel like if Zach could play in a Stetson, he would. Please, someone Photoshop this and send it to me?

That Kovar guy, get to know him.

Hot take alert.

Literally impossible, but true.

Loud and proud. Y’all are the best.

OH EM GEE OH EM GEE! I LOVE TACOS! I LOVE MR. ERIK FRIBERG!

Kovar, your throws are amazing. Erik, your noggin is exactly what we needed.

Sound advice. IT IS ALSO THE 96th MINUTE!

To quote Ross Fletcher, “LISTEN TO THIS NOISE!”

So smooth. So dang smooth.

The white whale is captured, the quest for victory is completed. The Captain completes fulfills his destiny, and all is right in the world.

Even Lando Calrissian knows what’s what.

With a combined six points, the epic came to its anticipated end. S2 continues to fight for a prime spot in the USL postseason, and Sounders FC does the same in the Champions League table.

Until next time ”Thus, I lay down my Twitter account.” – Captain Ahab, Moby Dick.
