2015 (Houston Dynamo): In his second stint with the Dynamo, Sturgis appeared in 18 matches (15 starts). In his first match with the club, Sturgis scored the equalizer in a 1-1 draw against the LA Galaxy on March 21. He tallied assists against the LA Galaxy on July 25 and Sporting KC on April 25.
2014 (Colorado Rapids/Chivas USA): Sturgis began the campaign with the Colorado Rapids. After making six appearances, including four starts with one assist, he was traded to Chivas USA. In his lone stint with Chivas USA, Sturgis started nine of his 16 appearances in the midfield.
2013 (Colorado Rapids): In the 2013 season, Sturgis set career-highs with 25 appearances, 23 starts, four goals, 27 shots and seven shots on goal. From May 18 – June 15, Sturgis recorded a goal in three of four matches. He added another goal on Independence Day against the New York Red Bulls.
2012 (Houston Dynamo): In one season with the Dynamo, Sturgis appeared in five matches, making four starts. He recorded three assists in three CONCACAF Champions League matches. He served as captain for the reserve side that won the Central/Mountain Division title.
2011 (Toronto FC): With Toronto FC, Sturgis started 16 of his 20 appearances in the midfield. He led the club with 31 corner kicks.
2010 (Sounders FC): In his second season with the Rave Green, Sturgis appeared in 20 matches for the first time of his career, while also making 15 starts. He scored his first career goal in MLS action on a penalty kick in a 4-0 win against Columbus on September 18. He tallied an assist against Chicago on August 28 and versus Toronto FC on October 2.
2009 (Sounders FC): Sturgis made five starts in nine appearances with the First Team in league play. He also made three starts in Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup play, playing 90 minutes in each victory.
2008 (Real Salt Lake): The midfielder made two starts in three appearances before straining his left hamstring.
2007 (LA Galaxy/Real Salt Lake): Sturgis began the season with the LA Galaxy, where he made eight starts in nine matches. In June, he was traded to Real Salt Lake. With RSL, Sturgis started each of his five appearances while battling a calf strain.
2006 (LA Galaxy): In his rookie campaign, Sturgis started each of his 15 appearances. He made his MLS debut as a starter vs. New England on April 1, playing 71 minutes.
COLLEGE
Sturgis starred at Clemson University, where he appeared in 41 matches in two seasons with the Tigers. He was named the 2005 ACC Defensive Player of the Year, First Team All-ACC, and a NSCAA Third Team All-American as a sophomore. In his freshman year, he earned All-ACC Freshman Team honors.
INTERNATIONAL EXPERIENCE
Sturgis spent time with the United States at the U-17 and U-20 levels. He made 40 appearances for the U.S. U-20 National Team, including the 2005 U-20 FIFA World Cup.
PERSONAL
Sturgis has three brothers and two sisters: Lydia, Mary, Luke, Caleb and Mark. His brother, Caleb, is a placekicker for the Philadelphia Eagles. His sister, Lydia, played soccer at William & Mary, while his brother, Luke, played soccer at Flagler College. His dad played tennis at Flagler College.
