Major League Soccer has nominated Sounders FC midfielder João Paulo for Week 15 MLS Goal of the Week for his long-range strike against the Vancouver Whitecaps at CenturyLink Field on Sunday.
With the match at a stalemate after the first half, João Paulo kickstarted Seattle’s attack just after the halftime break, rifling a shot from outside the box into the bottom corner. That effort served as a catalyst for the Sounders, with Seattle posting two more goals to come away with a convincing 3-1 win.
João Paulo and the Sounders return to action on Wednesday as they host Real Salt Lake at CenturyLink Field (7:00 p.m. PT; JOEtv, Prime Video, 950 KJR AM, El Rey 1360 AM).
