After four weeks since their last USSDA league match the U-18 and U-16 Sounders FC Academy squads return to action this Saturday, April 25 at Vancouver Whitecaps FC. The U-18s will try to hold on to their current first-place spot in the Northwest Division knowing that the Whitecaps only trail a mere three points behind. The U-16s face a strong opponent against their respective divisional leaders, and will need a solid performance to remain in playoff contention. The U-14s are set to face a challenge against a very competitive opponent that they have yet to defeat this season.

-U-18s are currently first in the Northwest Division with 53 points (17-5-2)
-U-16s are currently third in the Northwest Division with 38 points (11-9-5)
-U-14s finished second in the U-15 Far West Regional League Northwest Division with 15 points (5-1-0)
What You Missed
The U-16s went 3-2-0 at the Generation Adidas Cup Finals in Frisco, Texas. The squad opened the week with a quality performance against Sport Club do Recife, but the team would ultimately fall 2-0 to the impressive Brazilian side. The team quickly rebounded with a complete performance, earning a 3-1 victory over the Houston Dynamo, before falling 2-0 to a strong New York Red Bulls side. The next day the squad rallied to defeat Orlando City 4-2 in PKs following a 0-0 draw. The U-16s ended their week on a high note with a decisive 2-0 win over the Columbus Crew. Given the international format of the competition week, the players were given the unique opportunity to train with Japanese side Sagan Tosu on the team’s recovery day.
Moving on Up
Since S2’s home opener on March 21, five members of the U-18s have been called up to participate with the squad. Defenders Kasey French and Choong Sil Lim made their S2 debuts on March 29 against the Vancouver Whitecaps 2. Midfielder Lorenzo Ramos became the next academy player to their debut on April 11 against the Portland Timbers 2. Goalkeepers Saif Kerawala and R.J. Noll have each been included in the 18-man game day roster.
Off the Field
In the coming weeks, Seattle Sounders FC Academy will host trials for the 2001, 2002, and 2003 age groups. The 2001 tryouts are quickly approaching, set for May 4-5 and 7 at 4:30 p.m. while the Discovery Program tryouts for the 2002-2003 age group will be held on June 1-2 at 4:30 p.m. Both will be held at Starfire Sports.
