SEATTLE, WASH. – Seattle Sounders FC today announced that it has reached a partnership with BECU to become the official credit union of Sounders FC. BECU is the first credit union from the Pacific Northwest to become a partner of Sounders FC, with the two member-driven organizations coming together in their focus on delivering a great experience to their 900,000+ members and MLS record-setting fan base, respectively.
“We’re proud to welcome BECU into the Sounders FC partnership family,” said Sounders FC Owner Adrian Hanauer. “Our organizations both have deep roots in the Pacific Northwest and long traditions of putting our supporters’ and members’ satisfaction first.”
In addition to traditional in-match signage and promotions, BECU is making a $250 donation to support financial literacy programs at YouthCare for every Sounders FC goalkeeper save on the field during regular season home matches. YouthCare is a Seattle-based non-profit that provides services for homeless and at-risk youth. More information on BECU and its partnership with Sounders FC can be found via www.becu.org.
“BECU is a member-owned credit union and Seattle Sounders FC is a fan-driven organization,” said BECU CEO Benson Porter. “We share the belief that together with our members, fans and community we can help each other and accomplish great things. The credit union philosophy of ‘People Helping People’ is not just rooted in financial education, but also in supporting things like our hometown Major League Soccer team that make our community a great place to live and work.”
After earning its first win of the 2016 campaign – a 1-0 home win Saturday evening over the Montreal Impact – Sounders FC returns to MLS action this Sunday with a road fixture against the Houston Dynamo. Kickoff is set for 1:00 p.m. PT at BBVA Compass Stadium, with a nationally-televised broadcast on ESPN.
