It’s official: Jesús Ferreira is the newest member of the Seattle Sounders.
One of the most prolific young attackers in Major League Soccer history, Ferreira joins a Sounders side that reached the Western Conference Final in 2024. The former FC Dallas star will inject plenty of attacking quality into the team, helping to build on the elite defensive foundation they’ve established over the last two seasons.
Here’s a closer look at what Ferreira brings to Seattle, by the numbers:
53
At just 24 years old, Ferreira has already tallied 53 goals in MLS Regular Season play. A tidy finisher with a poacher’s nose for goal, he is equally capable of producing a magical strike from distance as a close-range finish following a clever run in the box.
34
While Ferreira is best known for his scoring exploits, he has also established himself as a fantastic chance creator, notching 34 assists during his time with FC Dallas. That level of creativity should help unlock fellow attacking players like Jordan Morris, Pedro de la Vega, Georgi Minoungou and Paul Rothrock.
18
Ferreira is just a couple of seasons removed from a fantastic 18-goal season with FC Dallas back in 2022. That’s one more than Sounders FC’s all-time single-season record set by Obafemi Martins back in 2014 and Raúl Ruidíaz in 2021.

Ferreira is second on the all-time list of MLS goals scored before the age of 25. He is three back from American soccer legend Landon Donovan (56). Seattle’s new forward doesn’t turn 25 until December, so he’s perfectly positioned to overtake Donovan in the record books.

Among active players under the age of 25, Ferreira is the top-ranked scorer with 53 goals. The next player on the list, LA Galaxy’s Dejan Joveljic, has 31 goals.
5
Ferreira is currently tied for 5th in the league’s all-time assists record for players under the age of 25. He is seven shy of Andy Williams for third in league history.
93
Moving into the underlying numbers, Ferreira was in the 93rd percentile for successful through ball attempts per 90 minutes last season. His ability to split defenders and release runners into space should benefit the likes of Morris, de la Vega, Rothrock and Minoungou in transition.
91
At times last season, the Sounders struggled to break down opposing defenses when they sat deep and absorbed pressure. Despite struggling with injuries in 2024, Ferreira finished in the 91st percentile for successful passes into the penalty area per 90. With that ability to play in tight spaces and play penetrating passes, he can help break down bunkered opposition and find teammates in dangerous areas.
