Off-Camera Observations: Steve Zakuani on Sounders FC vs Sporting Kansas City -

Sounders FC has had success against Sporting Kansas City in the past and will look to continue that on Saturday at CenturyLink Field. Here to break down the match is former Sounder and current broadcaster Steve Zakuani in the latest Off-Camera Observations.

On SKC's two games in four days:

I think it’s hard. I remember doing that when I was playing. It was difficult playing a midweek game at home and then traveling for the weekend. But when you’re coming off a win, it’s a lot easier. And I think that was a big win for them. That will give them confidence, and sometimes it’s best to get back out on the field right away [after a win].

On the Sounders' success in recent road stretch:

It gives you confidence, because it’s easier in this league to win at home than away. That’s been proven over the history of the league. So they’re in good form, and for Seattle to play at CenturyLink Field, you always expect them to win, no matter who they’re playing.
It will be a tough game, but I think based on the second half of the Vancouver match, the team is in good form and starting to click. After going away for three games, you want to reward yourself by not letting it slip at home. So I think it’s a very good opportunity for them to get three more points.

On Chad Barrett's current form:

I think Oba [Martins] is irreplaceable in the sense of getting someone to do what he does. But I think Chad doesn’t get enough credit, because he scored seven goals last year. When we played against Dallas earlier this year, he had chances. So he’s always going to get chances. I think it says a lot, for someone who hasn’t played much, to come in and still be ready and score big goals. Especially the second goal – It was a fantastic finish.
