Cascadia Cup: How the Sounders can claim the title this weekend

Nico vs. Vancouver 2017-10-18

Although the Seattle Sounders are playing the Colorado Rapids on Sunday (1 p.m. PT; JOEtv, Univision-Seattle, 107.7 The End, El Rey 1360 AM | TICKETS) in the final match of the 2017 MLS regular season, Seattle can still claim its fifth Cascadia Cup.

The Portland Timbers and Vancouver Whitecaps meet at Providence Park in Portland on Sunday, and with a Whitecaps win or draw, the Cascadia Cup would return to Seattle for the second time since 2015.

A Vancouver win would give the Sounders the cup outright, while a draw would crown the Sounders based on the first tiebreaker: greater number of points earned in matches between the teams concerned. The Sounders won once and drew twice with the Timbers this season.
