A huge Western Conference battle between Seattle Sounders FC and the Houston Dynamo will play out in front of a nationally televised audience on ESPN on Oct. 18 at 2 pm PT, Major League Soccer and its national television partners announced on Monday.
The Sounders will head into the match at BBVA Compass Stadium in fifth place in the Western Conference and pushing hard for the seventh postseason berth in franchise history, while the host Dynamo are currently three points outside of the playoff picture. The Sounders can clinch a playoff berth with a win.
Fans in Western Washington can tune into the match via the club’s official radio partners KIRO Radio 97.3 FM and El Rey 1360 AM (Spanish). Coverage for both radio broadcasts is set to begin at 1:30 p.m. PT.
As part of the enhanced scheduling initiatives announced before the 2015 season, the final two weekends of the regular season allows the broadcasters to select the most meaningful matches as teams jockey for position for the Audi 2015 MLS Cup Playoffs. The last day of the season, dubbed Decision Day, features games across each conference played simultaneously on Oct. 25, with a key match in each conference broadcast nationally by FS1 and ESPN, respectively. The schedule for Decision Day will be announced on Oct. 19.
The Sounders won the first meeting of the season between the two teams in Seattle on April 4, when Obafemi Martins struck for the game-winner in 1-0 victory.
