ESPN.com on Wednesday profiled the Seattle Sounders in a comprehensive feature on the most storied soccer clubs in the world and their iconic jerseys.
One of five MLS clubs selected for the piece, the Sounders were spotlighted alongside institutions of global football like Real Madrid, Barcelona, Manchester United and Bayern Munich.
The piece focuses on the history of the Sounders, dating back to the inaugural NASL season in 1974, and the shared colors across the eras. It also highlights the introduction of Rave Green to the world when Seattle joined Major League Soccer back in 2009, and some of the innovative kits in recent years like The Jimi Hendrix KIt, The Bruce Lee Kit, and The Anniversary Kit.
Next year, the Sounders will have an opportunity to go toe-to-toe with some of the massive clubs included in this story when they compete in the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup. In the first iteration of this revamped tournament, all three of Sounders FC's group stage matches will be played at Lumen Field. You can learn more about FIFA Club World Cup 2025 HERE.
