CenturyLink Field

FourFourTwo names CenturyLink Field among world's best soccer stadiums

Sounders FC’s CenturyLink Field is among the best places in the world to watch a soccer match, according to well-known British magazine FourFourTwo.

The outlet ranked CenturyLink Field No. 63 on its list of the top 100 football stadiums in the world on Tuesday, citing the stadium's recent inclusion in EA SPORTS' beloved FIFA series and its propensity for large, boisterous crowds for the biggest matches of the season.

“When you step on the field you feel something electric when you play here,” former Sounders player Djimi Traore told the magazine. "The best part is when you have the national team anthem and you hear all the noise. That gives you something, the atmosphere is amazing.”

The Sounders broke their own MLS single-season attendance record this year, averaging 44,247 fans over 17 home regular-season home games at CenturyLink. The club now ranks 28th in world attendance.

There have been 126 consecutive sellouts at CenturyLink Field, and Sounders FC is 15-2-3 in front of full-stadium crowds. The club was 13-4-2 at home in 2015, including the MLS Cup Playoffs.

Earlier this year, Sounders FC signed an extension to their agreement with First & Goal Inc. that will make CenturyLink Field the team's home through the 2028 season.
