Stefan Frei will make his 100th regular-season appearance for the Seattle Sounders on Saturday when he starts in goal against the Montreal Impact in Quebec (4 p.m. PT; JOEtv, ROOT Sports outside Seattle, KIRO Radio 97.3 FM, El Rey 1360 AM).
Frei spent the first five seasons of his career with Toronto FC. He started 81 games in his first three years before injuries hampered him over the next two years and was dealt to Seattle.
Frei has become a household name in MLS during his time with the Sounders. He has won 48 regular-season games highlighted by 27 shutouts and three straight seasons of 90-plus saves. In addition to Frei’s 99 regular-season games he’s played in Seattle, he also has 13 postseason appearances culminated with an MLS Cup MVP last year.
