Welcome back, Joevin Jones!
The Seattle Sounders announced on Tuesday the return of defender Joevin Jones from SV Darmstadt of 2. Bundesliga in Germany. Jones spent 2016 and ’17 with the Sounders where he scored three goals and added 14 assists in 63 matches, helping Seattle lift its first MLS Cup trophy in ’16.

Shooting in the fourth frame and needing to convert to keep the Sounders’ hopes alive, Jones calmly stepped up and buried his penalty into the top corner.
Nutmeg assist vs. New York Red Bulls | March 19, 2017
In the Sounders’ first home match in 2017 after winning MLS Cup, Jones put on a show, nutmegging a Red Bulls defender on the end line and pulling it back for Nicolás Lodeiro, who set up Jordan Morris for a strong headed finish. The Sounders won 3-1.
Goal at Portland Timbers | June 25, 2017
Jones’ lone goal of 2017 opened the scoring at Providence Park as the Sounders earned a crucial road point in Portland.
Outside-of-the-boot assist to Brad Evans in comeback win over D.C. United | July 19, 2017
After being down 3-0, the Sounders stormed back to win 4-3, becoming the first team in MLS history to erase a 3-0 deficit and win. Jones unleashed a beautiful outside-of-the-boot pass to Brad Evans, who headed in the second goal of the evening.
Assist to Will Bruin doubles the lead at Houston in postseason | Nov. 21, 2017
In the first leg of the Western Conference Championship, Jones played an inch-perfect cross to Will Bruin, who headed home against his former team to give Seattle a commanding 2-0 series lead. The Sounders finished the job at home in Leg 2 to reach their second straight MLS Cup.
