Instant Replay: Seattle Sounders wronged by PK calls against Vancouver Whitecaps FC

Stefan Frei complains to the ref about a call 3-21-2016

A pair of controversial calls that went against the Seattle Sounders on Saturday went under the microscope of MLSsoccer.com’s Instant Replay series, and television analyst and former MLS player Brian Dunseth said the Sounders were wronged on both calls.

The two plays in question – a foul on Sounders left back Joevin Jones in the 9th minute and another on center back Chad Marshall in the 74th – both resulted in penalty kicks for Vancouver Whitecaps FC, and ‘Caps midfielder Pedro Morales converted both to fuel a 2-1 win for the ‘Caps.

Watch the video above and hear Dunseth’s analysis of both calls made by head referee Mark Geiger, starting at the 3:01 mark.
