Jordan Morris: “I’m 100 percent happy with the choice I made” to join the Seattle Sounders

A year after much speculation was made over whether local talent and Stanford University product Jordan Morris would join the Seattle Sounders as a Homegrown Player or ply his trade overseas, Morris is happy with his decision to stay home.

“It’s just so good to be around family,” Morris told U.S. Soccer on Tuesday. “I’m 100 percent happy with the choice I made. I have no regrets.”

Morris scored 12 goals and added four assists in his first professional season this past year en route to being named MLS Rookie of the Year.

The Mercer Island, Wash., native is currently in Los Angeles at the United States national team’s January camp ahead of two international friendlies against Serbia on Jan. 29 in San Diego and against Jamaica on Feb. 3 in Chattanooga, Tenn. Morris has 12 caps, but is playing under new head coach Bruce Arena, who was hired last November, for the first time.

“[Arena] has done a really good job coming in and getting the guys on the same page,” Morris said. “He’s focusing on establishing an identity for the team and that mentality that the U.S. is a team that fights for each other and is very hard to play against. It’s awesome to get to play for him.”
