Jordan Morris, Tyler Miller selected for U.S. Under-23 team's Olympic qualifying series vs. Colombia

Seattle Sounders forward Jordan Morris has been officially named to the U.S. Under-23 team roster ahead of a critical two-leg series against Colombia next week that will decide if the Americans will play in this summer’s Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.

Morris - who has been a constant figure for the U-23 team throughout Olympic qualifying – will lead the U.S. into Barranquilla for the first leg of the aggregate-goal series on Friday, March 25 (12 p.m. PT; FS1).

The Americans’ home leg will then follow four days later at Toyota Stadium in Frisco, Texas on March 29 (6 p.m. PT; ESPN2).

Sounders backup goalkeeper Tyler Miller was also added to the roster on Saturday evening. Miller made his MLS debut in the Sounders' 2-1 loss at Real Salt Lake on March 12.

Morris and Miller will not miss any matches with the Sounders due to Major League Soccer’s observation of the upcoming FIFA international date. The Sounders’ first match after their return is April 2 against the Montreal Impact at CenturyLink Field.

The U.S. reached the two-leg series against Colombia after failing to earn an automatic berth via CONCACAF’s qualifying tournament last year. The U.S. finished third in the region behind Mexico and Honduras, with Morris scoring three goals over five matches.

The U.S. have not qualified for the Olympics since 2008.
