Major League Soccer on Monday named Seattle Sounders defender Brad Smith to the Week 9 Team of the Week for his efforts in a 2-2 draw with the San Jose Earthquakes on Wednesday and a 1-1 draw with LAFC on Sunday.
Smith came on as a substitute midweek with the Sounders down 2-0. He completely changed the match and helped Seattle score twice in two minutes to equalize just 12 minutes after he came on. On Sunday, Smith was back in the starting lineup and was dynamic on offense while also doing a tremendous job defensively to help the shorthanded Sounders earn a hard-fought draw.
The Sounders are back in action on Saturday at Minnesota United (5 p.m. PT; JOEtv, YouTube TV, 950 KJR AM, El Rey 1360 AM).
