Major League Soccer on Monday named Seattle Sounders midfielder Nicolás Lodeiro to its Week 3 Team of the Week for his efforts in a 4-2 win over the Chicago Fire on Saturday. The league additionally named forward Jordan Morris to the Team of the Week bench.
Lodeiro added the Sounders’ third of the day, his first of the season, after Víctor Rodríguez was taken down in the Chicago box, drawing a penalty kick whistle from referee Joseph Dickerson. Morris recored an assist and scored his third goal of the season with a sublime finish that has been nominated for MLS Goal of the Week.
This is the third straight week a Sounder has earned Team of the Week honors. Defender Kelvin Leerdam was named to last week’s team, while Morris and Lodeiro were named to the first week's team, with Rodríguez making the bench.
The Sounders will visit the Vancouver Whitecaps on March 30 (7 p.m. PT; JOEtv, YouTube TV, 959 KJR AM, El Rey 1360 AM) at BC Place in Vancouver, Canada.
