Major League Soccer on Monday named Seattle Sounders midfielder Nicolás Lodeiro to the Week 18 Team of the Week for his performance against Columbus Crew SC on Saturday.
Lodeiro, who did not make the Sounders’ matchday roster midweek at New York City FC after returning that morning from Copa América, recorded a second-half brace in Columbus to complete Seattle’s comeback in a 2-1 win. Lodeiro scored from the penalty spot in the 56th minute to level the match, and the coup de grâce came in the sixth minute of stoppage time when he headed home a flicked-on header off a throw-in to secure all three points.
The Sounders captain now has four goals and eight assists in 15 MLS matches. Seattle returns to action on Sunday at CenturyLink Field with a clash against defending MLS Cup champion Atlanta United (12:55 p.m. PT; ESPN, YouTube TV, 950 KJR AM, El Rey 1360 AM | TICKETS).
