MATCH RECAP: Tacoma Defiance drops 2-0 decision to OKC Energy FC

Marlon Vargas July 2019

TACOMA, WASH. – Tacoma Defiance (3-13-5, 14 points) on Saturday fell to OKC Energy FC (7-7-8, 29 points) by a 2-0 margin at Cheney Stadium. Kyle Hyland and Atiba Harris each scored for Energy FC to help the club snap its three-game winless streak. Tacoma now has a week off before returning home for three of its next four contests.

Hyland’s goal came in the 77th minute on an assist from Je-Vaughn Watson to give Energy FC a 1-0 advantage. He blasted a shot with his left foot from outside the area that beat outstretched Tacoma goalkeeper Trey Muse to his left side. The marker was the first of the season for Hyland.

Harris scored 12 minutes later with a header off a free kick to make it 2-0. Watson sent a ball into the area that Harris converted to the far left corner of the goal for his second marker of the season.

Six players under the age of 20 saw action for Tacoma tonight, including one First Team player in Muse.

Tacoma Defiance next plays host to Orange County SC in Tacoma on Friday, August 9 (7:00 p.m. / ESPN+). The club then travels to play El Paso Locomotive FC on Saturday, August 17 (6:30 p.m. / ESPN+).
