MATCH RECAP: Tacoma Defiance falls 3-0 to LA Galaxy II

TACOMA, WASH. – Tacoma Defiance (1-1-0, 3 points) on Saturday suffered its first loss of the 2019 campaign with a 3-0 shutout to LA Galaxy II in Tacoma. Justin Dhillon and Joel Rydstrand made their Defiance debuts in front of 2,911 fans at Cheney Stadium.


Galaxy II got on the board first with a goal from Augustine Williams in the 24th minute. Ernesto Walker sent a shot toward the goal that found the foot of Williams who finished past Defiance goalkeeper Trey Muse. In the 41st minute, Walker collected a loose ball in front of the net and finished to the bottom left side of the goal to put the visitors ahead, 2-0.


In the 60th minute, Williams completed his brace with a header inside the area. Diedie Traore floated a pass to Williams who was streaking down the right side, and the striker floated it over the head of Muse for the third goal of the evening for Galaxy II.


Seven players under the age of 20 saw action for Tacoma tonight, and four First Team players also made appearances.


Tacoma Defiance returns to action on Saturday, March 23 at Tulsa Roughnecks FC for its first road game of the season (1:00 p.m. PT / ESPN+). The club then returns home to Cheney Stadium on Friday, March 29 against New Mexico United (7:00 p.m. PT / ESPN+).
