MATCH RECAP: Tacoma Defiance falls 3-0 at San Antonio FC

Josh Atencio March 2019

TACOMA, WASH. – Tacoma Defiance (2-7-0, 6 points) on Friday lost 3-0 at San Antonio FC (3-4-1, 10 points) in the fourth match of its five-game road swing. Bradford Jamieson tallied the first marker of the night for the hosts, followed by a first-half brace by Jack Barmby.

In the ninth minute, Jamieson gathered a ball in the area and finished to the right of Tacoma goalkeeper Trey Muse to give San Antonio an early 1-0 lead. The goal was Jamieson’s third of the season in four appearances.

The hosts made it 2-0 in the 19th minute when Moises Hernandez found Barmby at the top of the box. Barmby fired a blast from distance that beat the outstretch arms of Muse. Just five minutes later, Barmby completed his brace with another shot from outside of the area. He fired a curling shot that again beat the outstretched arms of Muse to the far-left corner of the goal to give San Antonio a 3-0 advantage.

Nine players under the age of 20 saw action for Tacoma tonight, including one First Team player in Muse.

Tacoma Defiance wraps up its five-match road stretch on Saturday, May 4 at OKC Energy FC (5:30 p.m. PT / ESPN+). The club then returns home to take on Portland Timbers 2 on Sunday, May 12 (1:30 p.m. PT / ESPN+).
