Matchday Central: at Chicago Fire

Sounders FC vs. Chicago Fire

MLS Regular Season
Saturday, June 6; 5:30 pm PT; Toyota Park
TV/Radio: JOEtv (KZJO, channel 22/cable 10); KIRO Radio 97.3 FM; ESPN Deportes Radio, 1490 AM (Spanish)

Chicago's Record: The Fire is 2-3-8 (14 points) and ninth in the Eastern Conference. In six home matches, Chicago has gone 1-1-4.

Head-To-Head: This is the only match of the season between Chicago and Seattle.

All-Time Series: Seattle is 5-0-3 in MLS play against the Fire and 6-0-3 overall, including a win in the 2011 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup. All of Seattle's victories in the regular season have been one-goal wins.

Injury Report: Sounders FC – OUT: M Tristan Bowen (Concussion); D Damion Lowe (Hip Surgery); F Kevin Parsemain (ACL Tear); D Dylan Remick (L Adductor Strain); M Andy Rose (L Knee Surgery); D Djimi Traore (R Adductor Strain). QUESTIONABLE: None. Chicago Fire – OUT: M Patrick Nyarko (Knee Sprain). QUESTIONABLE: F Mike Magee (Calf Strain); M Logan Pause (Hamstring Tightness).

Key Player: Mike Magee was MLS MVP last season and Quincy Amarikwa is the Fire's top scorer with five goals. However, the frontrunner for MLS Rookie of the Year is Homegrown midfielder Harrison Shipp. He has three goals and four assists, but the bulk of that came from one match when he erupted for three goals and one assist in a 5-4 win over the New York Red Bulls on May 10. He has been a creative cog in the Chicago midfield and games like that make teams aware of him as they prepare to face the Fire.

Notes: Sounders FC forward Clint Dempsey and defender DeAndre Yedlin are away with the U.S. National Team in preparation for the 2014 FIFA World Cup. On Saturday, the U.S. meets Nigeria in its final match before leaving for Brazil...Two longtime Sounders and three former Fire players will go up against their former teams on Saturday, four of them doing so for the first time. Chad Barrett (2005-2008), Marco Pappa (2008-2012) and Jalil Anibaba (2011-2013) all played for the Fire before coming to Seattle this season, while Jhon Kennedy Hurtado and Patrick Ianni both played for Seattle from 2009-2013 before an off-season trade landed them with the Fire...This is the last match for both teams before the league's World Cup break. Sounders FC returns to regular season action on June 28 against D.C. United, but has a U.S. Open Cup match on June 18 against PSA Elite at Starfire.
