Stefan Frei did it again.
Ever since his acrobatic, other-worldly stop against Toronto FC’s Jozy Altidore in the 2016 MLS Cup Frei, Frei has made fantastic saves seem routine. He was called upon again on Tuesday, July 4, against the Colorado Rapids when he miraculously kept out a Dominique Badji header from close range. That save kept the Rapids off the scoresheet for the time being and earned Frei a nomination for Week 19’s Save of the Week.
Frei earned the nod in Week 6 for a stop on the San Jose Earthquakes’ Marco Ureña and then again in Week 10 for another brilliant save on Altidore at CenturyLink Field.
