SEATTLE, WASH. – Seattle Sounders FC is encouraging fans attending tonight’s match against Vancouver Whitecaps FC (7:00 p.m. PT / Q13 FOX, Univision-Seattle, KIRO Radio 97.3 FM, El Rey 1360 AM) to be aware of today’s launch of the Sound Transit light rail University Link extension. The new additions to Seattle’s light rail system include stations in Capitol Hill and the University of Washington, with Seattle residents living in those areas now able to utilize the new public transportation options starting today.
To help celebrate Sound Transit’s “Launch Day,” SoundWave – Sounders FC’s 40-person, ensemble made-up of traditional marching percussion and brass instruments – is set to perform at the Capitol Hill station this afternoon at 4:00 p.m. PT. Fans will have the opportunity to win Sounders FC swag and can purchase tickets to tonight’s match at the Sounders FC booth at the University of Washington station. The new University of Washington Station is located right next to Husky Stadium, providing easy regional access to campus, UW Medical Center, other Husky athletic sites and surrounding neighborhoods. Capitol Hill Station is located just east of Broadway and south of East John Street, beneath Nagle Place and adjoining properties.
