Nicolas Lodeiro, Chad Marshall top MLS positional performers in conference semifinals

Major League Soccer’s Audi Player Index indicates that Seattle Sounders midfielder Nicolas Lodeiro and defender Chad Marshall were the best players at their respective positions during the conference semifinals of the Audi 2016 MLS Cup Playoffs.

Lodeiro scored three times in two matches against FC Dallas including the all-important away goal that sunk FCD in the second leg. He finished with an average score of 968.

Marshall was the only defender to have an Audi Player Index performance in the top 10 over the two legs. He averaged 567 points and helped hold the Supporters’ Shield-winners to only two goals in two games.

Toronto FC forward Sebastian Giovinco and goalkeeper Clint Irwin received top honors in their respective positions.

The Sounders host the Colorado Rapids in the first leg of the Western Conference Championship on Tuesday, Nov. 22 (7 p.m. PT; FS1, KIRO Radio 97.3 FM, El Rey 1360AM). The return leg will be held in Commerce City on Sunday, Nov. 27.
