Seattle Sounders midfielder Nicolas Lodeiro is attending MLS Media Day in Los Angeles, Calif., and he had reassuring things to say for Rave Green supporters.
“There are always offers from other teams,” Lodeiro said, according to Four Four Two’s Richard Farley, “but the truth is, I want people in Seattle to know, I see myself here for a long time.”
Lodeiro is coming off a season in which he completely revitalized the Sounders. He scored four goals and added eight assists in just 13 regular-season games to earn MLS Newcomer of the Year honors while helping a struggling Seattle team qualify for the playoffs on Decision Day. He then scored four goals in six postseason matches to become the Sounders’ all-time leading playoffs goalscorer en route to helping Seattle lift its first MLS Cup.
The Uruguayan Designated Player joined Seattle in late July from Argentine giants Boca Juniors. He said that knowing the Sounders had not won an MLS Cup was “motivation to come. My objective is always to leave my mark, make history.”
