Panama has named Seattle Sounders defender Román Torres to its 23-man Gold Cup roster.
The 33-year-old captain has earned 98 caps for Los Canaleros, including leading them to their first FIFA World Cup last summer in Russia. Panama is in Group D with the United States, Guyana and Trinidad and Tobago. Panama’s opening match will be against Sounders teammate Joevin Jones and Trinidad and Tobago on Tuesday, June 18, at 4:30 p.m. PT at Allianz Field in Saint Paul, Minn.
Torres has played in 11 Sounders matches this season, including seven starts.
