Quietly, Gonzalo Pineda has been a pivotal addition for Sounders FC in the club’s thrilling 11-3-2 start to the 2014 season. On Monday, he was named to the MLSsoccer.com Team of the Week, making him the eighth different representative from Seattle given the honor.
Pineda assisted on the winning goal in Sounders FC’s 1-0 victory over D.C. United on Saturday, setting up Chad Barrett for his fifth assist of the season to go with two goals, as Seattle extended its lead in the Western Conference to 10 points over Real Salt Lake and the Colorado Rapids.
Pineda was joined on Team of the Week by goalkeeper Zac MacMath (Philadelphia Union); defenders Tony Lochhead (Chivas USA), Heath Pearce (Montreal Impact), Tommy Meyer (LA Galaxy) and Kevin Ellis (Sporting Kansas City); midfielders Danny Cruz (Philadelphia Union), Dillon Powers (Colorado Rapids) and Vicente Sanchez (Colorado Rapids); and forwards Jack McInerney (Montreal Impact) and Erick Torres (Chivas USA).

U.S.-BELGIUM VIEWING PARTY DETAILS
Seattle Sounders FC and The American Outlaws Seattle will host a World Cup viewing party at the CenturyLink Field Event Center for the U.S. National Team’s match against Belgium on Tuesday. Sounders FC players, coaches and staff will be in attendance for the Round of 16 match that will kick off at 1 p.m. PT.
Doors open at 11 a.m. and admission is free. Parking is available for $6 in the CenturyLink Garage and regular North Lot rates apply.
The event is open to all ages and will be standing room only. Sounders FC merchandise, along with food, soft drinks, beer and other beverages will be available for purchase. MatchPass pre-match pint pricing will be available.
U-18S REACH NATIONAL QUARTERFINALS
After steamrolling their way through the group stage of the U.S. Soccer Development Academy National Tournament in Indiana, the Sounders FC U-18s will host the Montreal Impact in the quarterfinals on Monday, July 7, at 7 pm PT at Starfire Stadium.
Seattle outscored its opponents 16-1 in the three group stage matches, going into the quarterfinals with a 15-1-2 record in the 2014 calendar year, continuing its tear through the USSDA circuit by getting goals from eight different players.

With the U.S. match against Belgium in the books by the time Gastineau takes the airwaves, there will be plenty to talk about in the world of soccer.
