The Seattle Sounders defeated FC Dallas 1-0 at Toyota Stadium in Frisco, Texas, on Saturday behind a first-half goal from Danny Musovski.
The Sounders struck first in the 17th minute when Pedro de la Vega unleashed a beautiful curling effort with his left foot from 25 yards that caromed off the far post. The rebound fell kindly to Musovski in front of goal, and he tapped in his first goal of the 2025 season.
Dallas goalkeeper Maarten Paes made an incredible diving save to deny a left-footed laser from Cristian Roldan from distance in the first minute of first-half stoppage time.
Both teams were dealt tough injury blows in the final minutes before halftime. Dallas lost Designated Player Petar Musa, who was stretchered off with an ankle injury in stoppage time. Minutes later, Sounders center back Jackson Ragen went down with a right hamstring injury and did not return for the second half.
In the 59th minute, Musovski almost had an exact copy of this first goal. Obed Vargas fired a shot from the top of the box that bounced back off the right post and fell to Musovski in front of goal again, but he was whistled offside after tapping it in.
The Sounders kept the FC Dallas attack quiet all evening, but former MLS MVP Luciano Acosta had a threatening attempt in the 69th minute when his free kick on the corner of the 18-yard box just went wide of the near post.
Seattle nearly added a second goal in the 84th minute on a counterattack where Danny Leyva eventually played in JesĂşs Ferreira, but his shot was right at Paes. Ferreira made his first trip back to Frisco as a visitor after spending the first eight seasons of his career with FC Dallas.
The Sounders rang the woodwork for the third time on the evening in the 86th minute when Reed Baker-Whiting headed a corner back off the near post.
Dallas looked to equalize in the first minute of second-half stoppage time, but Anderson Julio’s effort went out for a corner after a clutch block from Nouhou.
Seattle ended its three-match road trip 1-1-1 and will head back to Lumen Field next Saturday for a date with Nashville SC (4:30 p.m. PT; Watch on MLS Season Pass on Apple TV | TICKETS).
THREE TAKEAWAYS
Musovski off the mark
After getting the start up front as the No. 9 in Head Coach Brian Schmetzer’s 3-4-2-1 formation, Musovski opened his 2025 Sounders account. The goal was the second in Rave Green for the 29-year-old, who joined Seattle last season.
Kim makes 2025 debut
After spending two years with the Sounders and winning MLS Cup 2019, Kim Kee-Hee returned to his native Korea with Ulsan Hyundai. The 35-year-old center back, who was First Team All-K League 1 last season, came on at halftime for Ragen and helped preserve the shuout.
First road win of the season
The Sounders got a much-needed three points on the road, their first victory away from home on the season. It was also Seattle’s second clean sheet of the campaign.
