Referee Ismail Elfath to be head official for Seattle Sounders’ match against LA Galaxy

Referee Ismail Elfath will be the head official for the Seattle Sounders’ road match against the LA Galaxy on Sunday (1 p.m. PT; ESPN, KIRO Radio 97.3 FM, El Rey 1360AM), the Professional Referee Organization announced on Tuesday. He will be joined by assistants Corey Parker and Mike Rottersman and fourth official Baldomero Toledo.

Elfath has been an MLS referee since 2011. He has officiated in the MLS Cup Playoffs each of the last four seasons and was the head referee for the 2015 MLS All-Star Game.

Elfath has issued the most red cards of any MLS referee so far this season with four through five games. He’s also tied for second in yellow cards with 19.

Elfath was the head official in two of Seattle’s regular-season matches last year as well as the Sounders’ 1-0 MLS Cup Playoffs Knockout Round win over Sporting Kansas City.
