The Seattle Sounders are taking on Sporting Kansas City at Children’s Mercy Park in Kansas City, Kan., on Wednesday (5:30 p.m. PT; JOEtv, El Rey 1360AM, SoundersFC.com) in the Western Conference rivals’ first meeting of the season. Here is Seattle’s starting lineup, presented by Delta.
NOTES:
- Captain Osvaldo Alonso will miss Wednesday’s match with tightness in his right quad. He had started every match this season.
- Head coach Brian Schmetzer has opted to rest forward Clint Dempsey, 34, in the middle of a three-matches-in-eight-days stretch.
- Oniel Fisher will start at left back in his first appearance since April 14 against the Vancouver Whitecaps. He had missed the last four games with a hamstring strain, but replaces the suspended Joevin Jones on Wednesday.
- Jordy Delem returns to the lineup after serving a one-game suspension in Chicago after receiving a second, retroactive yellow card against Toronto FC on May 6.
- Nouhou returns to the 18-man gameday roster after suffering a dislocated shoulder last month while playing with Sounders FC 2.
