SEATTLE, WASH. – Sounders FC today announced a new regional Spanish radio broadcast partnership for the 2015 season, with the club partnering with Sea Mar Community Health Centers to make El Rey 1360 AM the new Spanish-language home for Sounders FC matches. Going forward, El Rey 1360 AM now carries every Sounders FC match during the 2015 season, beginning this Saturday, May 9 against Columbus Crew SC.
“We are thrilled to reach an agreement with Sea Mar Community Health Centers to broadcast Sounders FC matches on El Rey 1360 AM,” said Sounders FC Vice President of Business Development Brian Jones. “It is vital that the club be accessible to a Spanish-language audience, and we look forward to a new partnership with El Rey beginning this weekend with the Columbus match.”
With play-by-play voice “Zuper” Mario Rodriguez and analyst Felipe Maqueda on the call, fans throughout Western Washington have the opportunity to hear Sounders FC action over the Spanish-language airwaves. El Rey 1360 AM also provides 30-minute pre-match and post-match shows as a part of their matchday coverage.
“I’m very excited to be the new Spanish-language radio voice of Sounders FC,” said Rodriguez. “El Rey has followed the Rave Green since they joined MLS in 2009, and we couldn’t be happier to now broadcast their matches over our airwaves.”
Sea Mar Community Health Centers, the parent company of El Rey 1360 AM, is a community-based non-profit organization committed to providing quality comprehensive health and human services in Washington State. Sounders FC returns to action this Saturday, May 9 with a road matchup against Columbus Crew SC at MAPFRE Stadium (4:30 p.m. PT / Q13 FOX, KIRO Radio 97.3 FM, El Rey 1360 AM).
