Sounders FC Announced Special Event Details Surrounding Saturday's Exciting Doubleheader Experience

SEATTLE, WASH. – Following a 1-0 victory over the New York Red Bulls to kick off its three-match homestand, Sounders FC now faces a midweek battle against the San Jose Earthquakes tomorrow evening (7:30 p.m. PT / Apple TV – Watch Free, FOX, 93.3 KJR FM, El Rey 1360 AM) ahead of the club’s highly anticipated doubleheader matchday with OL Reign this Saturday, June 3.

The doubleheader features both Seattle’s topflight men’s and women’s soccer teams playing in back-to-back matches on the same day, with a single ticket providing access to the full day of exciting action on the pitch and wide-ranging entertainment options off it. Adding to the intensity, both clubs are facing off against their archrivals, with Sounders FC battling the Portland Timbers at 1:30 p.m. PT followed by OL Reign taking on the Portland Thorns at 5:00 p.m. PT.

Sounders FC today announced further details surrounding the doubleheader, with a variety of special activities taking place both before the first match of the day and in between matches, providing a fun and lively atmosphere for all fans staying for both matches.

HOW TO ATTEND

Tickets are currently available, with fans of all ages welcome to come out to enjoy the day of Pacific Northwest soccer and family-friendly entertainment. The entire event is a single-ticketed experience, with one ticket providing access to both games and all related events throughout the stadium.

However, while seating availability for the doubleheader has been expanded into the stadium’s upper level, fans should note that overall capacity is being capped at roughly 42,000. Remaining available tickets are moving quickly and those interested in attending Saturday’s blockbuster event should not delay in securing their seats.

Stadium gates open at 12:00 p.m. PT on Saturday. Fans are strongly encouraged to arrive early ahead of the day’s first match, so as not to miss music performances and limited-edition event gear.

LIVE MUSIC

Soccer and music are two of the most universal cultural elements in the world. In recognition of this, Sounders FC has teamed up with **KEXP** to make the iconic Seattle radio station the official music partner of the 2023 doubleheader.

Founded in 1972, KEXP is a nonprofit arts organization fostering relationship and community building through broadcast, online and in-person music experiences. KEXP works to champion music from all around the globe, spanning eras, styles and traditions, while operating one of the most influential listener-supported music radio stations in the world, broadcasting at 90.3 KEXP FM and through its website and mobile apps.

In Lumen Field’s North Plaza on Saturday, fans can find the main KEXP Stage, where **Smut**, a band familiar to the KEXP airwaves, headlines for a 45-minute performance from 12:30-1:15 p.m. PT. The Chicago-based five-piece band blends melody and moodiness to yield a droney and percussive pop, with influences stemming from shoegaze, 90s hip-hop and trip-hop. Smut will play an additional 45-minute set at the conclusion of the day’s first match.

Additional performances spanning a variety of genres can be found at various locations throughout the stadium:

• West concourse: **Maya Marie** (funk rock / soul), 12:30-1:30 p.m. PT and in between matches

• South end beer hall: **Rosé Prosecco** (R&B / hip-hop), 12:30-1:30 p.m. PT and in between matches

• East concourse: **Tomo Nakayama** (indie rock / rock synth), 12:30-1:30 p.m. PT and in between matches

There is also a special on-field music performance following Sounders-Timbers warmups and prior to the teams retaking the field for the game, so fans should plan to be in their seats with plenty of time before kickoff.

In between the day’s matches, local band **Reposado** performs live from the Toyota Fan Deck, with the show broadcast on the stadium’s videoboards for fans to enjoy as they wait for the Reign-Thorns matchup. Sounders FC’s and OL Reign’s matchday bands – **Sound Wave** and **Reign City Riot** – will also entertain with a collaborative performance in between the two games.

SPECIALTY GEAR

On doubleheader matchday, the Lumen Field Pro Shop offers a limited-edition t-shirt – featuring Sounders FC and OL Reign branding and a retro-feel design – and scarf – with a Seattle-centric Space Needle and Lumen Field arches design that celebrates both teams, including incorporating full player rosters.

Fans looking to secure one of the special items should be sure to arrive early, as quantities are limited.

Regular supplies of both Sounders FC and OL Reign gear can be found at the Pro Shop, including Sounders FC’s replica Bruce Lee Kits – including women’s and youth sizes – which have now been stocked by adidas.

SOUNDCHECK

Marking its first appearance of 2023, Sounders FC’s popular pre-match programming in Occidental Square Park returns ahead of Saturday’s doubleheader. From 11:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. PT, fans can stop by the park before heading to Lumen Field, where they can enjoy a party atmosphere with live music by female-led indie rock trio La Fonda.

In addition to the musical performance, there will be prize giveaways, photo opportunities and family-friendly tailgate games including giant Jenga, Connect 4 and more. The party ends just in time for guests to join in on the Emerald City Supporters’ traditional March to the Match, which departs from Occidental Square Park at 12:30 p.m. PT on its way to the stadium.

OTHER STADIUM ACTIVATIONS & ACTIVITIES

In addition to the day’s live music, once inside the stadium on matchday, fans have a wealth of activations and activities to choose from as they take in the atmosphere ahead of the matches.

In the North Plaza, fans can visit the Bud Light Zone, which features tailgate games and activities including giant Jenga, Connect 4 and more fun for guests of all ages.

Sounders FC is also providing its usual lineup of entertaining matchday activities throughout the stadium, including:

• The Providence Challenge – Fans can test their soccer and mental skills through three different activities at The Providence Challenge, as well as having the opportunity to take the Providence Mental Health Pledge to promise to better their mental health. All participating fans will be entered to win an autographed Sounders FC jersey or a pair of tickets to an upcoming home match.

• Crossbar Challenge, Presented by Western Washington Toyota Dealers – The first five fans to hit the crossbar in this interactive skills challenge earn a chance to take a kick on-field at halftime. If a fan hits a crossbar at halftime, Western Washington Toyota Dealers donates $1,000 to RAVE Foundation.

• Sounders Penalty Kick – A digital activation where fans get five chances to score a goal against a virtual goalkeeper.

• Soccer Skee-ball – This activation allows fans to play a soccer-themed version of Skee-Ball, kicking a ball down a ramp, rather than rolling it, in order to score as many points as possible.

• Soccer Billiards – Fans can play a soccer-themed version of pool, challenging a partner and kicking colored soccer balls into the oversized pool table pockets before their opponent does.

• RAVE 2026 Kick Experience – Learn about RAVE Foundation’s 26 Fields by 2026 campaign and attempt to kick a soccer ball through a hole.

• FIFA Gaming Station – Challenge an opponent to a friendly match of FIFA ’23.

• Pose With A Pro – This augmented reality photobooth places fans in photos with their favorite players.

• Sit & Soccer – A one-on-one table soccer game where fans attempt to outscore their opponent.

• Scarves Up! Photo Activation – Raise a scarf and recreate the club’s iconic matchday moment in this new photobooth.

• Sounders ‘Til I Die Instagram Wall – Themed photo opportunity for fans to grab the perfect social media shot.

FOOD & BEVERAGE

To provide fans with even more concession options on Saturday, there will be an expanded selection of North Plaza BIPOC and diverse-owned food truck options, presented by First & Goal Inc. and Levy. Providing an array of sweet and savory choices, doubleheader food trucks include Zuri’s Gourmet Donutz, Bai Tong on Wheels, Pie Bar and Macadons.

Additionally, the **Sounders FC Value Menu** – which provides matchday deals at specific concessions areas in the stadium such as $3 popcorn, $5 hot dogs and more – is being offered in expanded locations this Saturday, both before and in between the day’s games.

To celebrate the special day, Lumen Field’s Cityside Bar and Club Level bars are also offering a $9 Tequila Herradura Sounder-rita.

Additionally, having heard fan feedback requesting more dessert options at matches, Sounders FC and Lumen Field are pleased to offer an expanded selection starting this Saturday for the doubleheader, include Nutty Squirrel mobile gelato carts, 16-inch churros available on all three concourses (by sections 140, 113 and 307) and snow cones (available at section 102).

ADDITIONAL TUNE-IN OPTIONS

For fans unable to attend the doubleheader in person, various tune-in options exist.

Sounders FC’s regional television partner FOX 13 will be on-site at Lumen Field on Saturday, providing a robust day of programming surrounding the doubleheader. Bill Wixey, Liz Dueweke and Brian MacMillan will anchor “Good Day Seattle” live from the stadium from 7:00-10:00 a.m. PT. The FOX 13 sports team will also offer expanded pregame coverage at 12:30 p.m. PT with Aaron Levine, Alyssa Charlston and Sounders FC Analyst Pete Fewing. Sounders FC’s match is then being broadcast nationally on FOX in addition to Apple TV.

Saturday’s Sounders-Timbers game is available for all fans to watch for free on Apple TV this week without a MLS Season Pass subscription. The match can be streamed live for free here.
