WALNUT, CALIF. – Seattle Sounders FC kicked-off its preseason action at Mt. San Antonio College Sunday evening with a 5-1 win over UCLA. Jordan Morris scored his first goal for the Rave Green since signing as a Homegrown Player in January, while Darwin Jones continued his strong form with a brace against the Bruins, bringing his preseason scoring tally to four goals. In its second out-of-town camp of the 2016 preseason presented by adidas, Sounders FC continues its stint in Southern California with a match against the LA Galaxy on Wednesday, February 17 at StubHub Center. Seattle’s 2016 campaign begins on Tuesday, February 23 against Club America in the first leg of the 2015-2016 Scotiabank CONCACAF Champions League Quarterfinal Round at CenturyLink Field.

Sunday’s match against Sigi Schmid’s former collegiate side consisted of three periods over 105 minutes, including a 45-minute opening half followed by a pair of 30-minute periods. Sounders FC’s starting 4-3-3 formation, featured an attack of Morris, Nelson Valdez and Aaron Kovar above a midfield trio of Osvaldo Alonso, Erik Friberg and Andreas Ivanschitz. After the Bruins got out to an early lead via a goal from Sounders FC Academy product Seyi Adekoya, the Rave Green responded with goals from Morris and Ivanschitz to end the opening 45 minutes up 2-1. Following a scoreless second period, Sounders FC found the back of the net three times in the final 30 minutes, including a brace from Jones and a third tally from fellow Homegrown Player Aaron Kovar. Jones’ preseason scoring total is now up to four goals after finding the net against both Vancouver and Portland in Tucson.
