The American forward was recently named to his country's All-Time Best XI, putting him in rare company.

On Friday, U.S. Soccer announced it's All-Time Best XI.

Among the names included on the star-studded list was Sounders forward and Designated Player Clint Dempsey who received 25 votes. The voters were made up of 57 former players and administrators, as well as media members.

Joining Dempsey as the only currently active USMNT player on the team was leading vote-getter and fellow MLS-er Landon Donovan.

Dempsey, 30, has made 101 appearances for the United States, scoring an impressive 36 goals - which is good for second all-time. The national team captain scored in back-to-back World Cup's for the USMNT, becoming only the second American to score in multiple tournaments (Brian McBride).

Former Sounders goalkeeper Kasey Keller didn't make the team as Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Brad Freidel was named the top shot-stopper with 25 votes.

Also on the ballot was Sounders Sporting Director Chris Henderson who made 79 appearances for the United States between 1990 and 2001.
