In support of our commitment to uplift and create an inclusive environment for our community members of diverse backgrounds and identities, Sounders FC is celebrating Latinx Heritage Month from September 15-October 15!
As we kick off our celebration of this month, we recognize the complexity of the language used. As a club, we are committed to supporting individuals of all backgrounds and have chosen to use the term Latinx to foster the most inclusive environment for all. By using this gender-inclusive language, we reaffirm our position as a proud ally and advocate for the LGBTQ+ community, supporting those who do not identify within the gender binary and acknowledging the intersectional identities held by the Sounders community
Though this is the language we feel aligns most with our values as an organization, we encourage fans to identify in whichever ways feel most true to themselves.

Fiestas Patrias at Seattle Center
For the second year running, Sounders FC and RAVE Foundation kicked off our Latinx Heritage Month celebrations at Sea Mar’s Fiestas Patrias on Saturday, September 14! This community celebration of Latinx culture and traditions is a free two-day event in which the public is invited to come and enjoy traditional Latin American food, live music, traditional folk-dance performances and more.
We returned to Seattle Center, this time alongside Seattle Reign FC, to host soccer clinics and a soccer ball giveaway for youth in attendance. Additionally, Sounders and Reign extended ticket offers to their matches celebrating Latinx Heritage Month on Saturday, September 28 and Sunday, September 29, respectively.
Celebrate on Matchday
Sounders FC is excited to celebrate the Latinx community on matchday when the Rave Green take on Houston Dynamo FC on Saturday, September 28! Those in attendance can enjoy vibrant music, Latinx-owned food vendors sourced by Intentionalist, and a RAVE Foundation auction of the Latinx Heritage Month pre-match tops the team is wearing that day in addition to other items signed by Latinx-identifying Sounders FC players.

Prior to kickoff, the club is hosting a private Pro Sports Career Panel at Lumen Field for local Latinx-identifying youth from long-term community partner organizations to hear from and engage with a panel of Latinx-identifying Sounders FC staff and Head Consul of Mexico in Seattle Héctor Iván Godoy Priske. Following the conclusion of the panel, attendees are invited to stay and enjoy the match.
Mini-Pitches in Tri-Cities
Since 2022, Sounders and Rave Foundation have been working to build 26 free play fields across Washington state as part of our joint 26 by 2026 initiative, driven by our commitment to Defend the Right to Play. Together, we are achieving this goal early with our 25th and 26th mini-pitches coming to life in Pasco, Washington. These two brand-new hard surface soccer courts at Kurtzman Park and Highland Park, built in part because of community interest and demand for soccer, are supporting an area with a predominantly Latinx-identifying population that has historically been underserved.
An opening celebration for these two new mini-pitches is happening at Kurtzman Park on Sunday, September 29 from 1 – 4 PM. The opening celebration is hallmarked by a giveaway of 300 soccer balls, courtesy of RAVE Foundation. We are thrilled to reach our goal early and have recently announced a new goal, committing to build 26 more free play fields by 2026 through our updated 26 MORE by 2026 initiative.
Support Latinx-Owned Businesses
In continuation of our ongoing partnership with Intentionalist, we are encouraging fans to #SpendLikeItMatters at Latinx-owned businesses this Latinx Heritage Month. Fans can upload their receipt from a purchase made at Latinx-owned small businesses from September 15 to October 15 and be entered to win Sounders FC prizes. With your help, we can achieve our goal of catalyzing $25,000 in spending at Latinx-owned small businesses this Latinx Heritage Month. You can find a Latinx-owned business near you here.
Fans can also support Latinx-owned food vendors on matchday through our featured food trucks in the North Plaza! With Intentionalist, we have continuously hosted BIPOC and Diverse-owned food vendors at all home matches. From September 15 to October 15, all featured food trucks on matchday are Latinx-owned.
