For Paul Forrester, the start of the 2015 Audi MLS Cup Playoffs meant one thing: time to get his kids' picks in for MLS Cup winner. After the birth of his son, Paxon, Paul has made it a yearly tradition of choosing the winners of MLS Cup with him. His track record hasn't been that great, though, and the "Paxon Curse" quickly became a thing among the family's friends.
Paul is active on Reddit and posts the videos each year. "It started as something like 'oh, that's cute.' Now it's 'oh no, he picked our team'," he said. They've gained a following and this year, his daughter Bryn got in on the action. "People enjoy the videos. They give me a way to pass my fandom down to my kids."
Before the Knockout Round began, Paul posted a video of Bryn's picks online and quickly, Seattle fans noticed. She chose the Sounders to win the MLS Cup and unlike her brother, her choices don't seem to be jinxed. Her picks for the early round of the playoffs were 75 percent correct and she's a cool four for four in the Western Conference.
Ahead of the first leg of the Western Conference Semifinals, the club flew Bryn and her family to Seattle from Minnesota. She brought her good luck with her; the team rallied back in the second half of the match to beat first-seed FC Dallas 2-1 at home. Paul is also the guy behind @BadMLSComics and is planning to recap the family's trip with a few posts of his own.
Here's to hoping Bryn's bracket predictions hold up through the rest of the playoff race!
