Three Seattle Sounders players were named to the list of the best American players in Major League Soccer by MLSsoccer.com on Tuesday.
Ahead of the 2020 MLS campaign, which marks the 25th season in league history, MLSsoccer.com has been pushing out content spotlighting the biggest stars in the American game. The latest piece, a top 10 list for American players plying their trade in MLS, with Cristian Roldan included as an honorable mention.
Stefan Frei came in at No. 8, while Jordan Morris’ offensive exploits in 2019 after missing the better of two seasons through injury earned him No. 2.
“Frei has backstopped the Sounders to two MLS Cups (one of which saw him earn the MVP trophy) and a Supporters’ Shield/U.S. Open Cup double,” wrote MLSsoccer.com contributor Greg Seltzer. “He’s fifth on the all-time MLS shutouts chart and, among ‘keepers with at least 125 games played, only Luis Robles boasts a better win percentage.”
