Copa90 is back at it with an impressive video featuring the Sounders, this time focusing on the fierce rivalries within MLS, particularly in Cascadia. The UK-based digital business visited the Pacific Northwest earlier this season to capture the passion and scenes of these rivalry matches. For the piece, Copa90 also featured the New York City FC-New York Red Bulls derby.
"It's a whole different kind of feeling when Portland comes to town or when Vancouver comes to town," said Niko Moreno, a local journalist for La Aficion NW.
Tom, a Sounders supporter who was interviewed for the piece, spoke on how the distance between the Cascadia clubs cultivates a stronger sense of pride for each club.
"Based on [the] distance between them, it allows the regional pride to come into play."
He adds: "We can really make this the foundation that the league builds upon. Every city could look like Seattle as far as the level of support. Every city could be a Portland."
