COLLEGE EXPERIENCE

2015: A First Team All-Conference USA selection, Nelson started each of Old Dominion’s 15 matches. Against Hartford, Nelson scored a goal in a 3-2 overtime win, clinching the STIHL Classic and winning tournament MVP honors. On September 15 and October 27, Nelson was named to the Top Drawer Soccer National Team of the Week. He was also named to the NSCAA All-Southeast First Team and VaSID All-State Second Team.

2014: As a junior, Nelson started all 21 matches for the Monarchs. He scored a goal against Florida International and recorded an assist in the Conference USA Championship match versus South Carolina.

2013: In his first year at Old Dominion, Nelson made 16 appearances in 17 matches. He scored two goals – one against Kentucky, another versus UAB – while also recording two assists.

2012: As a freshman at North Carolina State, Nelson appeared in 10 matches before transferring to Old Dominion University.

PERSONAL

The son of Tony and Marie Nelson, he has one brother, Wes. A four-year team captain in high school, Nelson was named a 2011 RISE First Team All-American. He volunteered his time at the Raleigh food bank.
