In case you didn’t already know, today is a very important holiday in the Sounders camp. Once a year, National Dog Day pounces on us as we walk in the door after a long day of work, dripping slimy drops of slobber and cuteness (and a bunch of adorable pictures on the internet).
A few members of the Rave Green are known for their love of man’s best friend. Those of us who peruse the internet are fortunate for enough to see these wrinkly, shaggy and fuzzy four-legged friends on a weekly basis and because we love you so much (and we love the pups), here are a few of our favorite posts of the only creatures that love our boys more than we do.
Plenty of our players have a tail-wagging homie waiting for them after a long day of training and we could go on all day talking about those pups, but we narrowed it down to just a few for now.
Also, we would be remiss to not start this off by wishing you a happy #WrinkleWednesday.
NAME(S): Cloi and Nala
BREED: Shar Pei
OWNER: Stefan Frei
LIKES/DISLIKES: Wrinkles, sleeping, rolling around, goalkeepers / Ironing boards
These two wrinkly ladies have taken twitter by storm. They were built for National Dog Day, and when your owner stockpiles photos to post when he's outside the country, you know you've made it.
Now, we turn to Coto, the original Sounders Pup and all around utility canine.
NAME: Coto
BREED: Golden Retriever
OWNER: Captain Brad “The Sherriff” Evans
OCCUPATION: Director of Business Operations / Being cute beyond belief
Coto goes way back in Sounders history. One of the originals, he has been with the club since the beginning of the MLS era, and has aged with grace.
Dylan’s pup might not be in the state, but we could all use a little Bernese in our life.
NAME: Maverick
BREED: Bernese Mountain Dog
OWNER: Dylan Remick (and the Remick Family)
INTERESTS: Being huge and slobbery
Maverick might not live in Seattle, or even the state of Washington, but who could resist this Sounders' defender's gigantic ball of fur? We sure couldn't.
Last, but surely not least, Aaron Kovar joined the fun with this little guy.
NAME: Bilbo
BREED: Small and fluffy
OWNER: Aaron Kovar
HOBBIES: Hiking, watching Lord of the Rings, reenacting every scene from LOTR
