MLS announced its 2015 end-of-season award finalists on Tuesday, and Sounders FC Captain Brad Evans is on the short list for MLS WORKS Humanitarian of the Year. This is Evans' first such honor for his work in the community.
Out of twenty nominees, Evans was one of three earning the most votes from current MLS players, club staff (including coaches, technical directors, chief business officers and communications staff, and media members who regularly covered MLS this season.
The veteran Sounders defender has championed community efforts with the club and personally. He's participated annual in the Men in Kilts campaign and in 2015, he helped to raise over $83,000 for the Ronald McDonald House in Seattle. He also works closely with Seattle Humane Society and hosts fundraisers to help benefit the organization's programs throughout the city.
Evans is nominated alongside Kei Kamara of Columbus Crew SC and Jeb Brovsky of New York City FC for the award, presented by Advocare. The winner will be announced on Thursday, Nov. 5 ahead of the second leg of the Western Conference Semifinals.
Sounders FC is also up for the Fair Play award along with the Philadelphia Union and LA Galaxy. The award is selected by MLS based on fewest fouls committed, cards received and subjective evaluation of sportsmanlike behavior.
