Brad Evans isn't just a leader in the Seattle Sounders locker room.
The U.S. men's national team vet, who was called in to the squad's annual January camp last week, has found himself stepping up into a mentorship role in this year's camp. With the roster tipping more in favor of younger players, Evans is one of the more seasoned among the midfielders and defenders called in ahead of two upcoming friendlies against Iceland and Canada. Evans spoke to U.S. Soccer to talk about his role in this camp.
"Veteran presence is important," said Evans this week to U.S. Soccer. "This camp is a camp that has propelled a number of players to a big and bright future with the national team."
