Seattle Sounders captain Brad Evans was released from the U.S. national team January camp on Tuesday, citing tightness in his hamstring following the team’s 3-2 win over Iceland on Sunday.

Evans will now join the Sounders’ preseason activities in Tucson, Ariz, where the team will play two preseason friendlies this week.

Evans started at right back and played the entire first half on Sunday before he was pulled at the break with the hamstring issue. Evans picked up his 26th career cap and his first start since last summer’s CONACAF Gold Cup in the win.

The Sounders will play their first preseason game on Wednesday against Vancouver Whitecaps FC (4 p.m. PT) and then take on the rival Portland Timbers on Saturday (6 p.m. PT) as they continue to inch closer to the first leg of the Scotiabank CONCACAF Champions League quarterfinals against Club America on Feb. 23 in Seattle.

The Sounders will open the MLS regular season at home against Sporting Kansas City on Sunday, March 6.

Soundersfc.com will live stream both preseason games this week.

Seattle forward Jordan Morris, meanwhile, will stay on with Klinsmann’s group for the duration of the camp and is expected to join the Sounders following the USMNT’s friendly against Canada on Friday. Kick-off is set for 7:15 p.m. PT, and the game will be broadcast live on FS1, UniMas and Univision Deportes Network.
