- In Nico Lodeiro’s absence due to yellow card accumulation, Sounders interim head coach Brian Schmetzer is adjusting the club’s formation to a 4-1-4-1 this afternoon. Ozzie Alonso will occupy the lone holding midfield position, with Eric Friberg and Cristian Roldan sliding into central roles underneath Jordan Morris.
- Herculez Gomez slots in for Andreas Ivanschitz due to a late injury scratch (neck strain), and Alvaro Fernandez moves to left midfield.
- Brad Evans makes his return to the 18-man lineup for the first time since Aug. 28 at Portland after battling a left calf strain. Forward Aaron Kovar is also available off the bench for the first time since July 17 after suffering a broken clavicle.
