The Seattle Sounders are now nearly a lock to make the MLS Cup Playoffs, according to the latest Soccer Power Index projections from ESPN released on Monday morning.
ESPN now puts the Sounders’ odds at making the postseason at 97 percent following the team’s win over the Vancouver Whitecaps on Sunday night, their fourth straight win and third in a span of eight days. The Sounders currently sit in fifth place in the Western Conference, just one point out of fourth place and with a game in hand.
The Sounders are off this week due to the international break but will return to action at home on Oct. 12 against the Houston Dynamo. They’ll also face FC Dallas on the road on Oct. 16 before closing the season at home against Real Salt Lake on Oct. 23.
