Another season in the English Championship came to a close this morning in England with DeAndre Yedlin and Newcastle United dramatically coming from behind Brighton and Hove Albion to secure the title on the final day.
Coming into the decisive matchday, Newcastle sat a point behind Brighton in the table with the Magpies hosting Barnsley while Brighton traveled to Aston Villa. While both teams had already clinched promotion and a spot in the Barclays Premier League next season, it was Newcastle who had the last laugh earning a 3-0 win coupled with Brighton's 1-1 draw at Villa that saw Newcastle jump into first place on the final day.
It was another great season in the development of Yedlin with the Seattle native making 32 appearances for Newcastle. The 23-year-old has 24 career BPL appearances and will no-doubt add to that tally next season while looking to position himself for a starting role on the U.S. Men’s National Team.
Congratulations DeAndre!
